  1. Many weeks ago, I came across Cosmetic-Candy webbie and she was giving away 30 bags from FairTrade beauty products. Each product needs to have at least one certified ingredient, for example Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Sugar, Brazil Nut Oil from a disadvantaged producer from countries such as Africa, Asia and Latin America. Rowena is a marvelous blogger, with lots of interesting reviews on makeup, so do check her out!

Farmers and producers in developing companies get a better deal with fairtrade, so look for this logo! Merry Christmas everyone! xoxo elle

  5. Sometimes it's totally ridiculous to spend so much on just a t-shirt isn't it? That's why hop down to factory outlets for some great bargains! Especially if you are overseas or going overseas, claim your GST at the airport! So here is what I got at the Essendon DFO:

So my haul on RL tops supposedly A$600, but with the discounts, total purchase was only A$300! And I get to claim back A$30 at the airport later. So with 5 tops, it's an average of A$55 for each top! Without outlets like this, I won't even think of spending that much on t-shirts. Have you gals splurge on any t-shirts lately? ^^

  6. "For all we give and all we share. may we get return ten thousand folds."

  7. 1st Giveaway Update

    Nov 29, 2009

Thanks for the luvly current 38 participatants(still counting, because it will end soon on 30th November 2009 midnite!). For those who just came to my page and was wondering what's going on, check out my 1st giveaway here! Easy peasy to enter!

Some infos about what I pickup:
    • Try This Test: Dap toner on left backhand (behind the palm) and don't do it for the right hand. then rub your moisturiser on both backhands. Check if the moisturiser is easily absorb into your skin (on your backhands). Also check if the moisturiser turns dry/matte or still remain wet/dry. I find this test extremely useful when buying a new moisturiser. No point putting it on your hand, before toning the surface. These 2 products got to work together. I want a good toner that allows full absorbtion, I also want a good moituriser that really does matte my face ^^
    • Now, I only uses mascaras that have a curve comb! A bushy brush may claim that it adds volume to my lashes, but I get it all on my skin around the eyes because it is just too big for a clumsy person like me to use! So, a curve comb actually does the job nicely and easy!
    • Who here travels with half a bag of skincare+makeup and the other half of the bag for clothes and shoes??? That's how much stuffs I took for a 2 night stay! I have more stuffs than clothes and god bless my sis to bring along extra clothes hehehe
    • Invest in q-tips aka cotton buds. It removes makeup around the eyes cleanly (after dabbing it with makeup remover solutions). The cotton pads do not do the job that well because those eyeliners are damn tough to get it off!
Alrite, I'm off to zzz-land. Am putting some curling cream on my hair, and curl them up in those yellow sponge balls (got it from Sasa!). I can't seem to find red ones, SO said it looks like tennis balls are hanging on my hair! At least he don't say I look  like medusa LoL but gals, this sponge balls REALLY works! Good bye heating equipments and hello healthy hair~

Good Luck everyone, on my giveaway! xoxo Elle

  8. 10 Tips to stay POOR

    Nov 18, 2009

This is a reminder for myself that I'm currently not supa rich! So here is my weird way of giving myself 10 tips to stay poor (means 10 tips to avoid!):

    1. Spend more than I make
Actually if I only do this #1 tip, I won't have to worry about the other #9 tips. This is the easiest way for me to become poor. It doesn't matter if I make millions or hundreds each month, the same principle applies.

    2. Lust after what I can't afford
Desiring something is not a bad thing, but lusting after it is. Buying things I can't afford, because I am not content to wait until I can afford it is a great way for me to stay poor.

    3. Never give to anyone
It seems counter-intuitive, but keeping everything to myself only causes me to have less. Wise saying "The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered."

    4. Don't pay attention to where my money goes
From talking to people about budgeting I find that most of them say that when they started budgeting it seemed like they had a whole lot more money. The reason being that they didn't know where it was all going before they were budgeting. I had a similar experience myself. I said, and really believed, I knew where my money was going, once I started a budget. I was amazed at how much more money was available.

    5. Get a loan for everything..cars, a new bedroom set, a vacation ***BONUS: use credit cards with a 25% interest rate!
Using cash to buy things (especially items that depreciate in value) is the key to breaking out of the "poor" cycle. Ever notice what part of town you typically find the rent-a-centers? It isn't where the wealthy people live. The poor (like me) buy their luxuries immediately and on credit. The wealthy wait, save up and buy it with cash.

    6. Wait for the perfect time to start saving
As with most positive life changes we can make, there never seems to be a perfect time. Now is always better than later.

    7. Follow the crowd
The older I get, the more I realize that the crowd is often wrong. The crowd is also mediocre. I often have to remind myself the reason I am using a Coach handbag, while some of my friends are using a Balenciaga (borrowed) handbags is because I am patiently waiting for the reward of avoiding debt.

    8. Don't worry about the little things, they don't really hold up
God seems to be into the little things. Everyone looks to the big things and the flash-in-the-pan, but it seems to be the little things that make the biggest changes. I don't think it is any different in our financial lives. I mean how else cound a family making $35,000 each year retire with millions and a $10 million lottery winner end up brankrupt?

    9. Invest my money in things that I know nothing about
I should know where my money is going and why it is going there. I don't just buy a stock because I got a "hot tip". Buy a stock in a company that I understand how they make money, who their customers are, and if there is evidence suggestin that the business will continue to thrive (like makeup and skincare companies!).
I have invested in things I absolutely didn't understand and I will just say it is a bad idea all the way around. It is always a better idea to hold my cash in a money market account until I understand the investment. Then, once I understand, pull the trigger.

    10. Waste stuff - money, food, time
I remember hearing that "someone who is wasteful, is not really thankful". I am not sure if that is always the case, but, I have a responsibility to minimize my wastefulness.

I'll be launching another blog for swapping, so stay tune! I prefer to let others to 'adopt' my neglected items rather than sell them. But I will only launch this swapblog after my giveaway (to see how much stuffs I have left remaining hehe).

So gals, waste not, waste not the trees for paper producing, so read your Novermber ELLE magazine here and the December ELLE magazine here! Enjoy! xoxo elle

  9. Alritey, my giveaway is up and running till end of November 2009, get yourself a chance to win my 2 prizes here! Good luck everyone~
I've been eyeing on amynaree's garage since she started it, so I offer her a swap for her Kate Eyeshadow Palette - BR 1. So here is the luv package I received from her! This e/s is my staple clubbing use, the gold glitter is superbly shiny (got to be careful not to drop some on cheeks!) and after the heavy makeup, I'll use the Almay eye makeuo remover, simple as a breeze~ She also gave me a sample of Skinfood BB cream, my first, and I like the powdery finish of it! No breakouts!

Then I came across Jess from Austria @ ohhpretty, and so by chance I heard so much good stuffs about Caudalie mask, because of their drying property for oily face. She is so generous to include a mattifier moisturiser and buffing cream samples of Caudalie! I have not try these yet, but I can't wait!

Through MUA, I came across Hanna, who agreed to swap some stuffs and she sent me a bunch of Vichy samples! I am currently using Vichy spot imperfection, on pimples that occasionaly pops up and it's quite alrite. So thanks to her, I get to try their Normaderm, which is Vichy moisturiser!

Another MUA swapper, Langie, wanted my eyeliners and mascaras, sent me this huge luv package of fake eyelashies! Incredibly generous of her, as I now am a proud owner of 40+ pairs of fake eye lashies~ Those in white boxes are handmade lashes from Taiwan. I just can't stop starring at them, as I have never own that much!

As is I don't have enough beauty stuffs, I get some Stila hauls from Tammy @ plusizekitten, 3 tin cans and a makeup pouch! Now I can store my brushes nicely and a fashionable makeup pouch when I go for an overnite stay (obviously a longer holiday I can't bring such a small pouch!) >.<

So these are my recent excuses for my absentee, because I am still going goo goo ga ga over my new precious! Have a gr8 weekend everyone! xoxo elle

  11. What is in Elle bag?

    Oct 30, 2009

Just for fun, as I see this trend in the bloggers world, I'll like to share what's in my bag:

I'm using a JPG black hobo shoulder bag (I find it very similar to Jimmy Choo & Alexander Wang designs). I love Coach, and my sis got me this brown Coach scarf which is too tiny for my big neck, so I tied it on my handbag.

It's a roomy bag, so I got lots of stuffs. My MNG black shiny long wallet with a designer inspired LV teddy bear and a bling bling from my mum. Coach pink sunnies, ciggy with lighter (I like my own ciggy box, where the lid pops open with a thumb press), chewies to freshen up my breath and whitens my teeth, Esprit pencil case (pens are very handy to write things down), Catherine Manuell coin purse (Aussie designer, got my laptop bags from it as well), car keys, Agner parfum hand cream, dettol hand sanitiser, tissues, Smiggle business card holder (going to change this to a Gucci from Numero November issue!) and a makeup kit.

My Givenchy make up kit is too small I reckon. I got this as a GWP, and I just got to have it because it is in stripes! Oh my passport holder is also in a stripe holder! So I got Paul & Joe compact powder, The Body Shop paper blotters (I prefer the Clean & Clear blue paper but it's discontinue in Australia), YSL dark red lippy, Dior pink & red lip glosses, Bourjois nude lippy, chapstick, Hugo Boss Woman and Lancome Zen perfume vials, a mini kawaii mirrow, and a few individually toothpicks. Things in this makeup kit are always updated according to what I need to use throughout the day.

I think toothpicks are essential as I don't want anything get stuck in between my teeth! And not all cafes offer them to patrons. I have plenty of band aids as well in my long wallet as I'm a clumsy klutz and if I buy new shoes on an impulse, I can wear them straightaway! What's missing in my bag is my mobile, but this is my only camera. So I uses a mirror to capture it. I'm using a Nokia N95 8GB, with Coach charms hanging from it. My SO refuse to use my phone because it's too girly with the charms!

So there you go gals, boring bits about Elle bag! Next coming post, I've been accumulating 2 gifts for my readers as I've reach 50 Darlings'! I apologise for the delay becoz it's been a hectic these weeks, just disconnected from one broadband provider to another >.< I promise my giveaway will be up by November!

    xoxo elle

  12. Alrighty, I did some swatch on my beautycrunch haul (check out here!) which I bought it last month. I truly love this haul and so I want to share my review here. Since I got this purchase through cushycottage (as beautycrunch do not ship overseas), she have received it on my behalf and sent it over to me, with some extras!

This is the Pop Beauty Day-to-Class 24 shades of eyeshadow palette, comes with a double ended brush, which is surprisingly good to use! Now, the shades are very pigmented. Not all are glitter, some are matte.

I do luv the brush that comes with it, but its definitely not easy to put through that tiny holder (as it opens up the brush hair!) and I realise I won't get any double ended brush, because I can't put it standing up! But to compensate the brush, the eyeshadow colours just wow me! It's very versatile, and I bought this for $17, and actually I wanted the Urban Decay Book of Shadows vol 2 at $48 (check out at Sephora!). But this is still good! I can only get this at AUD$90 in Kit, so I am not complaining at all.

This is the Stila eyeshadow in Pewter, Wheat and Mystic. For the price, I know they won't come with a proper palette. Does anyone know the diameter of it? I can get Etude House twin e/s empty palette in the city, but I don't want the SA looking at me trying to see if this fits in! And the Peony Convertible color is not 'deluxe' as it said in the web LoL but I still like it, although it will be my first experience using a cream blush! I hear many horror stories that cream blush slides off the face, is it true?

Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser with spf 15, was something I have always wanted since discovering BeneFit High Beam. But this Stila is a steal! At full size, the entire set was $18, when this itself cost AUD$69! This gonna last me a long long time, and I will have a high high nose!

This is another steal, Stila Black is the New Black Set at $12 when the full size smudge pot is AUD$42 alone by itself! The $5 brushes are tiny but cute, just purfect to use both with the smudge pot! There is a reason why smudge pot is in such a demand for eyeliner, it's because they don't smudge after application! Have anyone test proof this?

Swatch! Can I use it for eyebrows?

Extras! I wanted a black glue for my fake lashies, and cushycottage put this in for me, and as everyone knows how the oil on  my face can fry an egg, the blotters are a god send, as they are discontinued in Australia! sob sob

Have a luvly weekend everyone! What do you think of my new 3 column template? Is it too congested? Please share your views! Hugz
