  1. Merry Christmas, everybody! Bright red and dark green tis the season! So I did my nails with bright red chillie colour and some leafy flower stickers hehe

Yup I'm holding a Givenchy lipgloss, loving it at the moment because it shimmers and taste soooo good lol

Blogging in Malaysia this 2010 year has been a great eye opener. Lots of active bloggers around town and it is great to share all those enthusiasm on skincare and makeup. My SO thought I was the weird one, because of the constant online reading about beauty blogs, but apparently now he realise I am NORMAL lol

Last week, I was invited to be one of the panel to test out an amazing new product by Origins. It is all very hush hush, so I can't really say much about this new product yet, but all will be reveal in due time, as it will be launch world wide in February/March 2011! So I got to keep mumps about this, as I've signed a kinda 'silence' contract.

Anyway, I want to share a cute story before I go into reviewing Origins Skin Rejuvenating Moisturiser.

My SO was kinda feeling concern for me when I told him I was going to a skincare workshop at MidValley on a Saturday afternoon. He felt sometimes things are not that 'too good to be true' and might be something dodgy (we aussies love this word, don't we, to describe something fishy hehe).

SO : Did you pay any money for the workshop?
Elle : Nope, it's an invite, ok.
SO : Your sis going? Anyone I've met going?
Elle : Not that I know of, coz the attendance were not made public to me.
SO : Why is it in this office building in MidValley and not those public cosmetic counters?
    Elle : I don't know either.

Usually, stellarvixen would go with me on these kind of events or tammy@miu would meet up there with me. I was curious too, why wasn't they going? Anyhoo, SO accompanied me all the way up to the workshop doorstep, and only willing to leave the floor when he saw it's the real thingy. Actually, I don't like it when he comes along with me to the malls, because he get bored waiting for me and that made me feel really really guilty arghhh I don't like to make him wait and I don't like to be rush >.<

So that's the cute story ^^ kind of irrelevant lol

Origins are actually a sub company of Estee Lauder (I didn't know that, too). Of course, they are also other brands under their belt.

The setting was really nice and posh. Good food, good people, I was all smiles!

The area was decorated really nice, with white cloth over the table and chairs, abit like a wedding reception. Every sitting has our names and folders with info on this new product. Now I know why I was asked to be a panel of testers. I heard from other bloggers that present, was because we are above 30 years old! So the others were underage LOL Age is just a number, I don't really care. In fact, I am extremely glad and happy that I went to meet up with Origins team, as I really learn alot of things from them, about preventing aging and knowledge of our skin.

Well, we are to use this new product together with our suited moisturiser for 4 weeks. Therefore, I am here to review only on Origins Make A Difference Skin Rejuvenating Moisturiser.

This is for combination/oily skin, and that's me. For 50ml, this bottle looks super generous. I reckon it is price RM170, but I am not too sure. Moisturiser are abit pricey but definitely less expensive than a serum.

    • Texture: Quite light, I can't be greedy slapping these on my face. Just a tiny amount, it easily spread all over my face.
    • Fragrance: Undetectable. So it's good.
    • Absorbency: Not that instant.

Like: Very generous amount for a 50ml bottle, I reckon can last me 2 months! No fragrance and it is all organic ^^

Don't like: Packaging, because I like pumps moisturiser because it is more sanitise to use. I need to get a spatula to scoop this, as I don't trust my hands to be completely clean. But then bottles like this, means no wastage.

I feel my face is more oily after using this for 4 days. At night, after putting it on around 8pm, my face is an oil pan by 11pm. Hmm I do hope it does the job of hydration by the end of the week. I am not giving this up!

Okidoki, I going to chomp on my 'tong yun', will show you pics of it in my next post.

Merry Christmas and if I don't see you, Happy New Year

    With Love, Elle

  2. Celdie & Acmedica

    May 13, 2010

My giveaway is packed & sent! Lookout, iPeh~

Went to Watson and found this new product on the shelf. Celdie has a range of cleansers, you can choose either the gel or cream. Very affordable and there was an incentive for getting this, apple flavour, because it comes with a cute colourful zip pouch! I'm a sucker for GWPs ^^

Descriptions on the brochure: All-in-one Cleansers
Now you can save time and money with these great all-in-one cleansers from Japan, designed to remove makeup and cleanse skin at the same time! Choose from a wide selection to cater for all different skin types today!
    • Honey yogurt for baby soft skin (white)
    • Spa salt for skin with large pores (blue)
    • Charcoal for oily skin (grey)
    • Royal Jelly for line skin (orange)
    • Rosehip oil for intensive moisture (red)
    • Apple essence (AHA) for rough skin (green)

It really smells of green apple (lovely!) and the gel does not create foam nor emulsify when contact with water. Does it wash off grime and makeup? Yes! Does it improve my skin texture, since it is said for rough skin? Too early to say, but I do feel my skin much much smoother than before, but may not be the direct cause from Celdie (can be also other skincare items?)

I have finished the Acmedica toner! The bottle is quite small, therefore it only lasts me about 1 month (I uses toner 3 times a day). I find this toner nothing special. I have no extra zits nor less zits (still one/two during TOTM) and oil is still that much on my face. Lot's of people depend on good toner, but I treat toner as a lotion to remove any last trace of cleanser and makeup on my face before my serum and moisturiser step. But I do also believe, a good toner will make the serum/moisturiser absorb better to the skin.

There was much hype on the Acmedica night powder, so I grabbed one as well. Usually my face gets abit oily around 11pm. I will wipe the excess oil with a cotton with toner lotion. Now, I'll have the addition of this before I go zzz. The white night powder have no smell to it, which is great! I don't like medicated smell as I don't think I can sleep well smelling that.

    Descriptions on the back:
Naris Up Acmedica acne care night powder helps to control shine, conceal pores and blemishes, and to give the skin a healthier look. Its sebum controlling formula prevents breakouts, containing vitamin C, the powder restores the damaged skin cells and leaves skin moistured.
Powder comes with a puff. The light natural colour helps give the skin a healthy look. Transparent colour strengthen the natural glow of beautifully skin.

What I don't understand is, how is it supposed to moisture the skin when it is in powder form? Anyway, I do feel better knowing my face is treated even when I am sleeping. When I wake up in the morning, my face is still oily but definitely not so much than before!

I am quite happy with these batch of hauls, as it did not give me any breakout! If any of you have tried these, let me know if you have made a review on them as I like to know how you feel about them and was it good for you? ^^

    With Love, Elle

No I totally don't know about this, although I uses BB creams lol

Nope, I use them till they dry up!

What brand of mascara do you use?

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
    Nope

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes, I'm using Lunasol eye base, I usually only use them during night because I really want my makeup stays for night out.

    For the face?
Kanebo Kate for face primer and also use it only for night functions, because it's such a teeny tiny tube! And have no spf. I also uses Benefit Dr Feel Good balm, it does matte my oily face and smoothen out my face texture before I apply my BB creams

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Pop Beauty Day-to-Class palette, lots of choice!

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Both, Rimmel liquid and Maybelline gel for upper eyelids, pencil Benefit Bad Gal for bottom

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
    Nope

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I'll be very messy with it haha

    Do you use mineral makeup?
Nope, I think they may be too fine for my large pores, I don't want to clog them >.<

    Stila!!!

What is your favorite blush to use?

Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
Sometimes, when I knew about it and it's close by. I bought some Bourjois & Red Earth stuffs at really good bargains!

    When SO hurried me grrrrr

I love colourful e/s (my SO and sis always think I overdo it with too many colours) but I like neutral lipstick. Deep red makes me older I reckon

Which celebrity always has great make up?
This is not easy to answer because I hardly follow celebrities news and I can't really relate to their makeup because I'm not on the runaway hehe But I would say I like Megan Fox, sultry sexy look, but I don't think she can act very well

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Dior face powder compact to soak my oil!

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, and I won't want to meet anyone hahaha

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Hmm, I'm ok looking but definitely my confidence is lower when I have makeup on ^^

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Lunasol because it has lotsa palettes, I like palettes its very very convenient

What do you think of Makeup?
It's a big money making industry and they know its my weakness -_- I think MU companies should lower down their prices because its just MU and not skincare

A tiny update on my current April Giveaway, I will be posting the participants on my next few post with their blogs, to share with you peeps!

    With Love, Elle

    1. Vichy anti-imperfection concentrate: Staple! Greenish cream. Does a great job at drying the acne fast and prevention of it from coming back! It does not sting like the Clinique Acne Solution Spot Healing Gel!
    2. Dalacin-T (topical): My mum got me this when I told her I got lots of small bumpy acne. She heard it from the chemist. The bottle is small, and to apply it, just daps around the face. It has a medicated alcohol smell. It doesn't sting.
    3. Kanebo Freshel White C Toner: I did not use much toner last time. But I am now a believer of the 3 main steps. This Kanebo Freshel toner I just started so there is yet to see any results of it. It comes in a big bottle. I also used before Estee Lauder Sparkling Clean Mattifying Oil Control Lotion green bottle (with a muddy grey layer floating above the toner). It's alright.
    4. Kanebo Freshel White C Milk Moisturiser: I am a believer of the right moisturiser. Previously, due to bad skin (whatever I put on the face, it produces more oil), I uses L'occitane Shea & Cotton Extra Gentle Moisturiser (HG)! After 1 year of using it, my face does not produce much oil after that and it toughen up my skin. So now, I am less sensitive to products and I can try using other moisturiser.
    5. Olay Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 (Non-Sensitive Formula) Sunscreen: I've been using this for ages now, but I do want to change it. It does make my face abit more oily/shiny after putting it. I read it is best to put on sunscreen in the dark (from some blogs), so I will off the lights and apply it behind the curtains. LoL
    6. Lancome Pure Focus T-Zone Matifier: Gel base turn velvety powdery. I uses only a pea size of it around my t-zone, temples, chin and cheeks.
    7. L'occitane Red/Riz Rice Ultra Matte Face Moisturiser: Just purchased this, but found out it does not do a good job in moisturising the face but good as a matifier. So I use just a pea size of it after my Kanebo Freshel moisturiser on my oily spots. I alternate this with the Lancome Pure Focus T-Zone Matifier (no I don't use it together! it will be too many products on my face then).
    8. Kose Beaute de Kose Ultimation AX Lifting Moisturiser: Oooh this is a splurge for me because it is expensive! I put it on alternate nights, to save it from finishing so soon. Love the smell, heavenly orangy tangy. I massage my face upwards as it is a firming lotion, from neck all the way up to the forehead. Then lastly, use both hand palms pressed into the face (was advise by beautician when using a firming lotion).
    9. Lather Lip Conditioning Balm: This is a great lip balm! It glides smoothly on the lips, with a citrus lime/orange taste (yum!) and it last about 2 hours before I have to reapply.
    10. BeneFit Dr Feel Good Balm Primer: Staple! I read alot of bad review about this but surprisingly it did me good! It can tend to be flaky but I reckon the sponge may be dirty or the skin was too dry (especially during winter time - I may skip the matifier if my face is dry). This balm does covers my visible pores, acne scars and tiny indentations on the face due to chicken pox scars >.< I also uses a synthetic foundation long brush to use this, instead of the sponge. This way I do not get too much of the balm on my face.
What I miss out in this photo:
    1. Juju Aquamoist Essense: Staple! Introduced by my lovely sis. It acts as a barrier to maintain moisture on the face/prevent moisture loss from the face. It works! As my skin have more moisture, my skin kinda produced less oil. Just finished this, so waiting for my Sasa haul.
    2. Kose Moisture Skin Repair with Rice Power Extract: Staple! Lots of review said it is similar to SKII essense but half the price. I love this and also waiting for Sasa haul.
    3. Origins What A Perfect World Guardian: Staple! Tried my first bottle and love the velvety feeling on it. This serum is really nice on my face (maybe it's winter time?). I'm a sucker on Origins products because they have marvelous names. Will try the Youthopia range next time!
    4. Kiehls Dermabrasion & Salve: Just bought, was advise by SA this could even out my face texture, as I got some dents on the face due to old scars. It's not that noticeable as it is not reddish, just skin colour, but it's still a dent. Have never try any dermacrasion before so I'm gathering my courage to start using this!
    5. L'Occitane Immortelle Precious Cream: My sis staple, she uses it and it heals her old scar, even out the skin texture. I have not been very consistent in using this, so I can't say it's good for me yet.
What my skin cannot tolerate: Nivea moisturisers (I get pimples the very next day!), Neutrogena cleansers (too drying, cause my face to be flaky urgh)

Next, I will show my makeuup desk!

  4. Like all beauty junkies, we all have our skin regime, so I would like to share mine with you all.
Skin Type: Sensitive Oily with visible pores (smoker, that's why have larger pores). My sensitivity is not about redness, but when a product does not suit me, it just become super oily (I can scrap the oil off my face and fry an egg!). So these are also some of my staples, therefore it is also my Wish List to swap them!

    1. Clinique Eye Makeup Remover: Usually I will use a cotton bud to dip into this to remove really stubborn eyeliner or mascara from the eye.
    2. L'occitane Milk Makeup Remover: Staple! Love this to the max, it's milk but turn watery once touches makeup. I put this on a wet cotton pad on my heavily makeup eye and leave it there for awhile. This is not a TOTALLY good makeup remover for the entire face, but it is especially good to remove just the eyemakeup. It soften the mascara and remove any glitter or shimmer around the eyes completely.
    3. L'occitane Cleansing Water: Staple! I only uses this just before I go to bed because my face does turn oily fast. As I have oily skin even during winter, this is good for me to remove excess oil. Face without much oil will attract less dirt on the face that may cause clogged pores and later inflammation (acne!! grrr!!). So, this is good only as a mattifier on a clean face.
    4. Za Cleansing Oil: Staple! Lots of bad review on this, as it is just a basic mineral oil, can be replaced by baby oil as many assumed, but this is really good because it does turn to white liquid when it touches the makeup (oxidation occurs, whereas a non-proper cleansing oil will not do that). I massage my entire face with this for about 2 minutes. It does feels like having a coat of oil on the face. It doesn't sting the eyes, even when I am wearing contact lens. It really dissolves all makeup. This is not easily wash off with water (oil and water do not mix!), so best to follow up with either a cream, gel or foam cleanser.
    5. Garnier Gentle Clarifying Foam: Staple! I love this, as it is not that harsh on the face and it really clean up the face squeky clean. I think this is not available in many countries. In fact, it is not even available here in Australia >.< Running out of this very soon, so I'll be looking for a new foam cleanser.
    6. Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2in1 Mask: This is a clay mask, really does the drying up good, leaves a soothing feeling. It's not harsh to use it often.
    7. Biotherm Biopur Pore Reducer: Just started using this. As a smoker, I do have visibly pores. I do feel it tighten my pores, but when I wash it off, the feeling is gone. Will not repurchase.
    8. Kose Seikisho Exfoliator: Heavy with herbal smells. Black colour cream. Not an extremely special exfoliator. Will not repurchase.
    9. Shu Uemura Brush Cleanser: As my makeup brushes were turning disgusting, I bought this to wash them. Will not repurchase as I find my brushes are hard to dry after washing and I dare not put near the heater to dry them. How do you girls clean your brushes???
What I miss out in this photo:
    1. Kose Seikisho White Mask (peel): Heavy with herbal smells and black colour cream. Am not a fan of peeling mask, so I will change it. I will try the Kose Japan Hyaluronic Acid Mask (comes in 22 sheets in a yellow box) when my Sasa haul arrives!

to be continue Part 2 (Moisturisers/Treatments)
